Her Story but God’s Plan:

BGB was founded on August 18th, 2019, by a dynamic and diverse group of young women. Understanding the disparities that exist within low-income communities and communities of color, Bosses Give Back strives to shift the narrative by equipping our digital community with knowledge of assets available to them free of charge. Using our social platforms to share local events happening in Philadelphia and the surrounding communities regularly, our goal is to empower those living here with resources to thrive.

According to a study conducted by The Pew Charitable Trust in 2018, more than a quarter, or around 400,000 Philadelphians live below the poverty line. Knowing this, BGB intended to bridge the gap for citizens who lacked access to the proper resources and education due to their income status. Rejecting that those living in North Philadelphia desire to qualify as poor, it is evident that for many residents, poverty is an intergenerational problem due to increased cost of living in the city, lack of quality education available, and limited funding allocated for arts, community, and education programs (Pew Charitable Trust, 2018).

Therefore, Bosses Give Back’s desired plan of impact for 2024 and beyond includes offering in-person financial literacy workshops, job-preparedness seminars, youth support, working to close the food insecurity gap, supporting the homeless population, neighborhood revitalizations, prison rehabilitation programs, educating the youth and providing decent clothing for individuals in need throughout the year.

To be a Boss, you must first give back, so combining the two: Bosses Give Back, fondly referred to as “BGB” was born.

“Believing the Holy Spirit led me to found this organization, Bosses Give Back is shifting to what He wanted all along: MINISTRY.
Ministry is defined, according to Merriam Webster, as “a person or thing through which something is accomplished’ synonyms include: agency, agent, instrument, machinery, means, medium, organ, vehicle.””

As Deuteronomy 15:10-11 reminds us, there will always be exigent communities around the world; so it is our job as servants and people of the Lord to keep His command, “You shall open wide your hand to your brother, to the needy and to the poor, in your land” (ESV)."

Bosses Give Back aims to be a vessel through which things happen, but by
no means will ministry be used to denote service solely within the Christian church. We strive to serve all people, regardless of their faith, gender orientation, financial situation, or age.'“
